Insight members elect the Chairperson, Board of Directors and Board Members.
Danny Gumm - Chairman Parmia Insurance Dip. Financial Services (Insurance Broking), QPIB, AFS Licence (Tier 1)
Daniel Gumm has more than 30 years' experience in the risk insurance industry, working with the world's largest international risk management and insurance broking firms.
He has served on the Queensland committee for the National Insurance Brokers Association, and held positions on various industry groups boards, including the Australian Professional Indemnity Group.
In 2002 Danny started his own business as an authorised representative and in 2007 he commenced his existing business, Parmia Insurance.
David Hosking - Vice-Chairman Grampians Insurance Brokers Dip. Financial Services (Financial Planning), ANZIIF (Senior Assoc.), CIP, CFP
David began his insurance career with Grampians Insurance Brokers in 1985. After 8 years he moved to IOOF Funds Management working in funds management and financial planning. After working in the UK for a short period he returned to Australia to commence his own financial planning practice.
In 2006 when Roy Marshall was looking to retire he purchased GIB in conjunction with his business partner, Paul Block.
David is married with 2 children.
Warwick Remington - Director Remingtons Insurance Brokers Dip. Fin. Serv. (Broking) QPIB and ANZIIF (Assoc)
Warwick began his insurance career in 1969 at the Ballarat office of South British Insurance. After almost 10 years, Warwick moved to Cornhill Insurance.
Following a merger with Prudential and subsequently Phoenix Insurance, Phoenix Insurance closed its Ballarat office. In 1981 Warwick established Remingtons Insurance Brokers.
He is also a life member of the Ballarat Insurance Institute.
Kay Jackson – Director Simplex Insurance Solutions Grad Dip (ins) ANZIIF (Fellow) CIP
Starting her career with FAI Insurance in 1986, Kay held several positions around Australia. She left the company after 11 years to accept a position with a Ballarat insurance broker. Developing a passion for insurance broking, Kay decided in 2005 to set up her own company, Simplex Insurance Solutions.
Kay has held positions as Secretary of the ANZIIF Ballarat branch and has been a member of the CIP Council at ANZIIF.
Phil Graf – Director BuildSafe Building Insurances Dip. Financial Services (Insurance Broking), Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com), Australian Sports Medal (ASM)
Phil Graf started his insurance career as an agency principal targeting the building industry in 1996. In 2004 he formed his own brokerage BuildSafe Building Insurances specialising in the same sector.
Phil is married with 3 children and takes an active interest in football and cricket in his local community.
Nalini Robertson - Director NAS Insurance Brokers
MBA, Grad. Dip. Ed., Comm.,Tier 1 Insurance Broking, General Manager NAS Insurance Brokers
Nalini has worked in accounting, education, information technology and general insurance broking in Australia and overseas. Her experience spans cost accounting for manufacturing; high school teaching; software training, consulting and project management in the IT industry; and a range of general management roles.
As General Manager of NAS Insurance Brokers for nearly ten years, Nalini has contributed to the growth and success of this innovative business.
Tony Bown - Director Gateway Insurance Brokers Tony started his career in insurance when he joined the Melbourne office of Union of Canton in 1963. In 1966 he decided to branch out on his own and start his own brokerage which he then sold in 1979.
Moving to New South Wales Tony again started another insurance brokerage in 1980, which he sold to OAMPS in 1988.
Back in Melbourne he started Gateway Insurance Brokers in 1991, before retiring in 2001. In 2008 he again started his own brokerage and is enjoying the challenge of building his business.
Doug Ford - Director Ford Kinter & Associates Doug started in the Insurance Industry straight from school after matriculating in the 1960's. He worked for a number of Underwriters, but soon changed to Broking, with his empathy clearly focused on helping his clients through the maze of insurance.
He started his Broking career with Stenhouse, which after many mergers and name changes finally evolved into AON.
Doug commenced Ford Kinter & Associates (FKA) with his partner in 1986, which he still controls and directs. FKA is a leading Brokerage in rural Australia.
Doug has since called upon his skills in both Broking and underwriting to form PetPlan Animal Health Underwriting Agency, which is a niche market covering dogs, cats and horses.
William (Bill) Friend – Executive OfficerInsight Insurance Brokers Association Dip. Bus. Studies (Insurance), ANZIIF (Fellow), CIP
Bill entered the insurance sector in 1977 at Guardian Royal Exchange Insurance (GRE) as a management trainee, subsequently becoming office superintendent.
From 1980 to 1983 he was National Sales and Marketing Manager for GRE Pacific Insurance in Papua New Guinea. On returning to Australia late in 1984 he was posted at Ballarat as the company's Branch Manager. In 1987 he became Marketing Services and Information Manager at GRE's head office in Melbourne.
In the early 1990s Bill was based in Hong Kong as Regional Marketing Manager (Asia) for Guardian Royal Exchange Asia, covering the 14 countries in Asia that reported to the Regional office in Hong Kong. In 1997 he became Operations Director for Guardian Royal Exchange operations in Indonesia, and when Axa took over GRE's operations worldwide he became Operations Director for Axa in Indonesia.
Bill returned to Australia in 2005 and was appointed Chief Executive of the Regional Insurance Brokers Association in 2006.
Jenny Pabst - Personal Assistant Insight Insurance Brokers Association Jenny is the personal assistant to Bill Friend and is responsible for providing a high level of confidential executive secretarial and administrative support to the Executive Officer, and all Board Directors.
Jenny joined the Insight team in May 2010 and looks forward to persuing a career in the Insurance industry.
